Lindy Loo Classic 2013
On Sunday March 24th 2013,The Lindy Loo Foundation hosted its first annual bowl-a-thon at 300 Lanes in Melville NY. 176 bowlers stretched over 22 lanes to raise funds to further the mission’s goal of improving the lives of mentally challenged people living on Long Island.
The event kicked off with Linda’s boyfriend, John Martino, throwing the first ball down the lane. Each of the lanes were lit up by electronic boards that ran a constant presentation of sponsors messages, photos and logos. Corporate sponsorships included the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Duvernay and Brooks, and the law offices of Ardito & Ardito.
Over the next two hours attendees had the opportunity to test their luck on a number of Chinese Auction raffles and bid on silent auction items. Some of the silent auction items included four NY Yankee tickets, four tickets to any Jones Beach show, vouchers for the Captree Fishing Fleet, three footballs signed by NFL legends and hall of famers and a YMCA membership. The silent auction items included tickets to the Brooklyn Cyclones, a basket of gifts and tickets from the Cradle of Aviation Museum, as well as a number of FDNY t-shirts donated by Daniel Martin and the Reznick brothers (Joey, Timmy, and Tommy).
By the end of the event, over $10,000 was raised by the foundation. Some of the lucky went home happy with raffle gifts; all others went home happy with the experience of spending a couple of hours bowling for a great cause. The foundation looks forward to providing many more challenged people with social opportunities through the funds raised at the first fundraising event for The Lindy Loo Foundation.
