Lindy Loo Classic 2015

On Sunday March 15th the Lindy Loo Foundation hosted its third annual bowl-a-thon at Bowlmor Lanes in Melville, NY. The tremendous success of the event can be attributed to the countless sponsors, attendees, volunteers, and donors who truly made this year’s Classic a positive and fruitful experience for all.

The event kicked off with Linda’s aunt and Godmother, Debbie DiMisa throwing out the first ball. Her enduring love, support, and friendship with Linda made the moment extremely special for all there. The success of the this year’s event, however, was also due in major part to the countless volunteers who aided in check-in and lane assignments, selling raffle tickets, monitoring lanes, as well as set-up and clean-up of the event. Their donation of time and energy lead to the Foundation’s ability to raise the most money in a single year since its inception in 2012.

The financial success of the event can also be attributed to the numerous major corporate sponsors. Credit Suisse, Hudson Advisors LLC, American Mortgage Consultants, Hunton and Williams, Sidley Austin LLP, Dentons, Mayer Brown, North Shore-LIJ Health System, and Caroline’s Pushcart Onions all made major contributions to support our goal of improving the lives of mentally challenged people living on Long Island. Also, not lost on the Foundation are the generous donations of private individuals and families who gave of themselves buying tickets as well as varying levels of sponsorship for the event.

While Linda’s favorite recreational activity of bowling was the primary focus of the event, the Chinese auction was a highlight for many people who bought raffle tickets, and won items ranging from hand-crocheted blankets, to Red Door Spa gift cards, to $250 worth of lottery tickets. The auction also featured a 3 day/ 4 night stay in Myrtle Beach, a signed NFL football helmet, and a one-of-a-kind painting by D. Russo Arts.

By the end of the event the Lindy Loo Foundation nearly doubled the amount of money raised the previous year and has been able to help over a dozen charities and organizations on Long Island. The continuing efforts of the Foundation help to support activities and events that improve the lives of mentally and physically challenged people on Long Island.
